Brand new Jazz trio Salesvuo Syncopation bursts the joy of playing together and leans on a deep swing! Tomi Salesvuo´s new compositions and the band’s original arrangements for the classic Finnish hit songs makes the repertoire shine. Long time friends Pope Puolitaival – saxophone, Mikko Helevä -  Hammond Organ and Tomi Salesvuo – Drums played their first jam during the Sibelius-Academy Jazz department studies in the mid 90´s. Since then the musicians have worked in various projects together during the years. Salesvuo Syncopation’s debyt album release, “Complete Loft Sessions” underlines the interpretation that captures the listener with Salesvuo´s playful melodies and the trio´s energetic performance! The new album release date 26.05.2023 by Eclipse Music.

Pope Puolitaival, Saxophone


Petri "Pope" Puolitaival is an Oulu-born reedsman. He took up the saxophone during his high school years, pursuing his studies further at the local conservatory. He removed to the Helsinki metropolitan area in 1994, enrolling first in the Pop & Jazz Conservatory and two years later in the Jazz Department of the Sibelius Academy. Today, Puolitaival counts among Finland's most sought-after jazz saxophonists. He leads his own group, Pope Puolitaival Nordic4, and plays in some of the most defining Finnish jazz outfits of the 2010s, including Dalindéo, Ricky-Tick Big Band, Nina Mya's band, Jo Stance's band, Jukka Eskola Orquestra Bossa and Espoo Big Band. In addition to jazz, he has backed such Finnish pop artists as Juha Tapio, Elastinen, Riku Niemi Orchestra, Dallapé, Sami Pitkämön Orkesteri and Sunrise Avenue. Puolitaival has performed with many notable international jazz stars, including Jukkis Uotila, Peter Erskine, Wayne Krantz, Mark Levine, Adam Nussaum, Jimmy Smith and Patti Austin. In addition to his career as a professional musician, he has worked as a producer and a pedagogue since 2000, teaching at the Sibelius Academy, Espoo Music Institute, Vantaa Music Institute and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

Mikko Helevä, Hammond Organ


Mikko Helevä is a Finnish jazz musician playing Hammond organ and piano. He is the founder and composer for the jazz organ trio The Bronson, whose other members are Teemu Viinikainen (guitar) and Teppo Mäkynen (drums). Helevä's other own groups in the past have been Mikko Helevä Groovin' Hammond and Big Brother. In 1995, Helevä enrolled at the Sibelius Academy jazz department in Helsinki with the piano as his instrument. He soon discovered the capturing sound of the Hammond organ and from then on devoted his time to mastering that beautiful instrument. Because of his high level of musicianship and command on both the organ and the piano, Mikko Helevä is widely sought after on the Finnish jazz scene. He has played with all the best players in Finland and has been a member of many groups including Jukka Eskola Soul Trio, Teppo Mäkynen´s The Stance Brothers, Jussi Lehtonen Quartet, Jari Perkiömäki Organic Baritone Quartet and Jarmo Saari Filmtet to name but a few.  Helevä has also played the Hammond organ as the soloist of the only professional big band in Finland, the UMO Jazz Orchestra. Mikko Helevä has had the pleasure to share the stage with many internationally well known jazz artists, such as Adam Nussbaum, Jerry Bergonzi, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Philip Catherine, Deborah Brown, Dana Hall, J.D.Walter and Jesse Van Ruller. In addition to his performances in Finland, Mikko Helevä has played in Japan, Italy, France, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Hungary, Sweden and Estonia. He released his solo album "Hands-on Hammond" in 2016 and has played on many recordings as a sideman. Mikko Helevä teaches at the Sibelius Academy jazz department of the University of the Arts Helsinki (Finland) as a lecturer.

Tomi Salesvuo, Drums


Tomi Salesvuo is a drummer, bandleader, producer and educator based in Helsinki, Finland. Born and raised Lappeenranta Finland, Salesvuo has been an avid student of the drums since his early childhood. After graduating from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Salesvuo’s performances with Wayne Krantz, Jim Beard, Benny Golson, Peter Weniger, Nils Landgren, Jeanette Lindström and Inaki Sandoval have played an important role in Tomi’s career. Tomi has performed and/or recorded with top Finnish artists like XL, Pekka Pohjola, Severi Pyysalo, Jukka Perko, Jukka Eskola, Pekka Kuusisto and Osmo Ikonen. Salesvuo is the leader for the Tomi Salesvuo East Funk Attack powerfull line up and is  releasing the bands third studio album in February 2021. Tomi Salesvuo teaches at the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences as an associate professor. In addition to performing in clubs and festivals in Europe, USA and Canada, Salesvuo has also held drum set master classes and work shops in most Europian countries.
